A Liquid Lipstick That Actually Lasts
You open your cosmetics bag and dump it all out on your bathroom counter. Which lipstick will you use? You’re wearing a white, summer sundress, so any color can match, but you want and need something new. This was me last week. I was leery of trying any liquid lipsticks (Is it a gloss? A lipstick? A matte?), but my aunt gave me a product called Liquid Velvet by Ciaté London in the color of Risque. It is a pretty, tangy red. So I threw my fears down the sink and decided to try it out.
It is a moisturizing, matte, liquid lipstick. The cool thing about this is that it includes hyaluronic acid, which helps to keep your lips conditioned making sure they give off the look of a plumped, moisturized pout along with a color that lasts and lasts. The color is also highly pigmented and bright. Very bright. Your lips will be noticed with this product, that is for sure!
I put on the liquid lipstick at noon and returned home around 6 p.m. The lipstick lasted the whole time with no extra application needed. Follow these tips for applying and wearing liquid lipstick, and you won’t return to your old lipstickf s this summer:
Since it is liquid, it tends to dry quickly. You need to make sure you use the angle of the applicator to your advantage. It is already shaped in a way that helps to line your lips. Start with the tops of your lips, or the mountains as I like to call them, and then outline from there. Dip in the applicator only lightly for the lining. A little goes a long way with this product.
Once you have lined your lips, go crazy filling them in. Dab in the applicator and get a lot of the product on there. It sort of feels like you are painting when filling in your lips since the liquid mimics paint and the applicator a paint brush. Once done, make sure to clean any smudges outside of your lip lines. These smudges will get bigger if you try wiping them off with your thumb because of the strong hold this lipstick has. Instead, dab a Q-Tip with some Vaseline and wipe of any unwanted lipstick.
The color will dry as a matte looking lipstick, but keeps your lips fully moisturized throughout the entire time your wear it. However, be careful with giving kisses when wearing this lipstick. I went to my little cousin’s birthday party, and since this lipstick conditions it will leave a lipstick mark on any cheek that won’t easily come off. Perhaps this would be good to kiss your boyfriend with before he goes out with the boys to leave an unerasable lip mark.
Liquid Velvet also is available in other bright, bold colors that are nice for the summer. Colors you don’t usually find in a liquid matte. Check them all out.
